1. We can reject or remove any ad, at any time
Every ad passes human review before it runs, and we may decline or take down any ad, before or during a run, for any reason — including simply not fitting the Journal. Review usually takes a couple of business days; you are never charged for an ad that isn't approved.
2. No guarantee of impressions or results
You're buying an exclusive placement, not a promised number of views, clicks, customers, or hires. We don't guarantee traffic levels, and we don't sell on projections.
3. What you promise us
By submitting an ad you warrant that: you own or have licensed every asset in it; any identifiable person pictured has given written consent for its use in advertising; every claim in it is true; and your business operates lawfully, including holding any Washington license your services require.
4. License to display
You grant us a non-exclusive license to display, resize, and reformat your submitted assets for the purpose of running your ad. If we set your ad in house style, that arrangement is ours; the logo and assets you sent remain yours, licensed to us for the run.
5. Billing
Sponsorships are month-to-month, billed on your anniversary date, starting the day your ad is approved and goes live. Founding rates stay locked while your sponsorship remains continuously active. Annual prepay is ten times the monthly rate — two months free.
6. Cancellation
Cancel anytime. Your ad runs through the end of the period you've paid for, then stops. No proration, no partial-month refunds for voluntary cancellation.
7. Refunds
If we terminate your ad for a policy violation, there is no refund. If your ad doesn't serve because of a fault on our side, we comp the lost time pro-rata. Voluntary cancellation runs to the end of the paid period, as above.
8. Reporting
The impression and click counts we report are first-party and bot-filtered — directional, not audited. There is no third-party measurement, by design.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for anything arising from your sponsorship is capped at the amount you paid us in the period the claim arose. We're not liable for indirect or consequential damages, including lost profits.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington. If we update them, the version below changes, and material changes are communicated to active sponsors.
