Turn on online booking

4 min read

Online booking lets clients grab a real open time on your Spokane Hairdressers profile — no DMs, no phone tag. Everything lives in your dashboard, and if you know your menu and your hours, the whole checklist takes about ten minutes.

Before you start

  • You need a claimed profile — see Claim your stylist profile.
  • Switching booking on requires the Plus plan or higher. You can set everything up on any plan; only the final switch is gated. Details in Plans & billing.
  • Only the profile owner can flip booking on or off.

The go-live checklist

  1. Go to your dashboard, choose Manage on your profile, then Set up booking. You land on the booking page, with tabs for Overview, Calendar, Appointments, Services, Hours, and Time off.
  2. Open Services and add at least one service clients can book. Fill in Name, Price, and Duration in minutes, leave Bookable online checked, and press Add service. A service only counts once it has both a price and a duration — its badge turns green Bookable when it does. The full menu how-to is in Services & pricing menu.
  3. Open Hours and set your Weekly hours. Tap each day you work, set the start and end times, and press Save hours. Uncheck a day to close it. You need at least one open day to go live.
  4. Already know you'll be out? Open Time off, pick the Date, choose All day or set From and To, then press Add time off. Time off only blocks new bookings — it never cancels appointments already on your books.
  5. Back on Overview, once both checklist items are crossed off the status card reads "You're ready — flip it on whenever you like." Press Go live.
  1. The card now reads Booking is live with a green Live badge. You can pause anytime with Turn off — existing appointments are untouched.

Where payments fits

One more piece: clients save a card (or pay a deposit) when they book, so the Book appointment → button only appears on your public profile once your payouts are active. Set up payments (Stripe) walks you through it — you can do it before or after you press Go live, but clients can't book until it's done.

What clients can do once you're live

A client on your profile taps Book appointment →, picks a service from your bookable menu, and chooses from your real openings — your weekly hours minus your time off and existing appointments. Bookings confirm instantly; there's no approve step. You get an email for each new booking, and it appears under Appointments. The client gets a confirmation email with a cancel link, plus email reminders before the visit. For your day-to-day — complete, reschedule, no-show — see Manage your bookings, and for the client's side of the window, What your clients see.

Good to know

The Go live button isn't showing

It only appears once you have at least one bookable service and at least one open weekly day. The usual culprit is a service missing its price or duration — the gold Needs price & time badge on the Services page marks the one to fix. Add both numbers and the button shows up.

Go live sends you to the billing page

Switching booking on needs the Plus plan or higher. Pick your profile on the billing page, upgrade, then come back and press Go live. Early providers on the free legacy deal skip this — the billing page says so if that's you.

You run the salon but can't flip the switch

That's on purpose. Salon managers can edit services, hours, and time off, but only the stylist who owns the profile can turn booking on or off — it's tied to their own payments. Ask the owner to press the button.

Live, but no Book button on your profile

Check the Payments card on the booking overview. Until it says Payouts active, the public button stays hidden, because clients need somewhere to save a card. Press Finish setup and complete payments setup — the button appears as soon as payouts are active.

Quick answers

Do I have to approve each booking?
No — a booking is confirmed the moment the client finishes checkout. You get an email for each one, and if the time doesn't work you can reschedule or cancel it from Appointments.
Does online booking cost anything?
Switching it on requires the Plus plan or higher. Spokane Hairdressers takes 0% of your bookings; the only per-booking cost is Stripe's standard processing rate, which you pay as the merchant through your own Stripe account.
Can I turn booking off later?
Yes, anytime — press Turn off on the booking overview. Clients can't book new times while it's off, and appointments already on your books stay exactly where they are.
Will my clients get text reminders?
Not yet — reminders currently go by email, 24 hours and 2 hours before the visit. There's nothing to set up on your end, and reminders cancel themselves if the booking is cancelled or moved.
